UWS researcher wins Miles Franklin Award
Alexis Wright, a doctoral research fellow from the University of Western Sydney, has won this year's Miles Franklin Literary Award for her ambitious and unconventional novel Carpentaria.
The nation's most coveted literary prize was awarded to the well-known Aboriginal activist and author during a dinner presentation at the State Library of New South Wales.
The Writing and Society Research Group at UWS has supported Alexis Wright's research into indigenous storytelling since 2006, when she was awarded the University's Yarramundi Research Scholarship.
